I am a teacher; I am a developer; I am a gamer. For the past 10 years, I have been pulling these three themes together in my professional career and academic studies.
My academic interests include improving teacher quality and th learning design inherent in video games. I believe educational reform needs to focus on improving teachers' instructional practices through collaboration and support. In addtion, gaming design has a lot to offer education in the form of engagement and successful teaching practices that address a wide variety of learner needs.
My personal interests include meddling with computer hardware, skiing when I have the time, and young adult fiction. My wife of 9 years is currently working as a research associate at the Public Education Leadership Project. Our daughter is studying the projectile capabilities of puréed food while the cats are earning their doctoral degrees in sleeping, bird watching and baby avoidance.
